Buying your own coverage shouldn't feel like a trap.

Before Caprio Health, I worked in the automotive business. Fifty-plus hours a week, no real way up, and not much say over my own time. My wife is the one who pushed me to go out on my own.

When I left, I saw what COBRA would cost for the two of us and shopped for my own coverage instead. That's where a lot of the people who call me are right now. A job just ended or a business just started, and the decision is theirs to make.

Honestly, I picked health insurance because it's work I can build for the long haul. Once I was in it, I saw people get let down. They get sold whatever pays the agent most, or told a plan covers more than it does, and then nobody picks up when they need help. I want to be the agent who does it the other way.

I'm independent, so I'm not tied to a single insurance company trying to hit a quota. I work with people who buy their own coverage: the self-employed, 1099 contractors, families, folks between jobs, and people bridging the gap to Medicare. My job is simple: tell you the truth and help you choose well.

So here's what I do, every time. I check your doctors and prescriptions before you enroll. I tell you when to stay put, even when that means I don't get paid. I pick up when you call or text. And I check in before open enrollment and at renewal, so you're not on your own after you sign.

I grew up in Jacksonville, so I still work with plenty of families there, and my license covers eighteen states beyond Florida. If you want the local version, start with Jacksonville, Orange Park, Texas, or Georgia. If you run a company and have people on payroll, the employer guide is the place to start instead.
